Review: The Pug & Greyhound, Great Glen

We recently invited fab food blogger Gingey Bites, and her pal Vicky along to The Pug & Greyhound for dinner, to give our new menu a try and let us, and the world, know what they thought!

Gingey & Vicky tried a bunch of our favourite small plates (starters) & three of our favourite mains between them. After all that food they didn't have room for a pud, but Gingey has written all about their experience and the food they tried on her blog, which you can read here.

Massive thanks to Gingey Bites & Vicky for coming along and for a lovely and honest review of our pub!

Live music and street art make for ‘best ever’ Dell party in Leamington

Organisers of this year’s Doin It In The Dell party at the Dell park in north Leamington on Sunday have hailed it the “best yet” after almost 1,000 people enjoyed entertainment by both established and up-and-coming local musicians and had a go at creating their own graffiti art.

Barbecue food was provided by nearby pubs the Star and Garter and Fat Pug. James Knight of the organising committee said: “It was definitely the best event yet. The weather certainly helped, but also the atmosphere was extremely friendly and relaxed. The graffiti worked well again – watching the art being created over the course of a day gives real interest when people have had enough of listening to music.”

The Royal Pug - The Courier

A pop-up barber shop is one of the more unusual features of a newly reopened pub in Leamington’s town centre.

The Royal Pug - formerly the Sozzled Sausage - in Regent Street now has a vintage-style interior and features its own ales, the Royal Pug Ale and the Fat Pug Ale, both brewed at Warwickshire breweries. Six new chefs and further staff have been taken on, with the new menu including pizza choices such as salmon and cream cheese and chilli con carne.

Pug Pubs set to open second Punch Taverns site – with pop-up barber shop

Pug Pubs set to open second Punch Taverns site – with pop-up barber shop: Pug Pubs, led by Matt Crowther and Nigel Pinegar, is to open its second Punch Taverns pub, The Royal Pug, formerly The Sozzled Sausage, in Leamington Spa on Friday (11 April). Situated on Regent Street, the pub was closed for six weeks whilst a £250,000 joint refurbishment was carried out – the investment has created almost 30 new jobs including six new chefs. Inside, the pub has been redecorated in a vintage style with retro features and will have a pop-up barber shop towards the back of the pub. The pub now boasts a new menu featuring a range of pub classics as well as swinging skewers and stone-baked pizzas with a twist, such as ‘rah rah ok yah’ topped with salmon and cream cheese and the ‘chilly billy’ topped with chilli con carne. The drinks selection has also been extended to nine cask ales including the pub’s own ‘Royal Pug Ale’ brewed by the Old Pie Factory, The Fat Pug Ale brewed by Warwickshire Beer Co and will also feature a selection of wines from local Underwood winery. Crowther said: “For Pug Pubs, this is our second Punch pub and we wanted to invest in a pub that had the potential to be at the heart of the neighbourhood with something for everyone and accessible to all.”
